Bobby, Jimmy Greaves, Bernard Cribbins.

When the only measure of an awards system is who unfairly didn't get one, it's time to chuck it in the Thames.

That said, hard luck to the corporate whore Beckham *sniggers.

Re: New Years Honours
An absolute load of tosh. My respect goes out to all those who won such 'honours' and told them to shove it - with the exception of Sir Trevor of Brooking, naturally.

How did Valteri BOTTAS get on in the same car?
Or the bloke who was handed the keys when Hamilton missed a race due to Covid?

Lewis has the fastest car.
Give any top driver the fastest car and they will win.
Fact.

Giving something to Greaves who now is sitting all day in a home in Brentwood not really with it (putting it mildly) is a bit late in the day for him to appreciated it.

Knighthoods are not worth shit these days. Mick Jagger? I'd decline if they ever offer me one.

Whatever you think of the prancing light on he's feet , chip on he's shoulder tax dodging ponce call Lewis

He is Britain's greatest ever Grand Prix driver by far and will end up top 5 of all time in the world

He deserves the honuor through he's sporting achievements , same as Cook Faldo Stewart etc

Re: New Years Honours
Amazing how he seems to irk some people so much. It’s almost as if there’s something else going on.

Not a fan personally but his sporting achievements certainly rank up there with any others that have been knighted.

As others have said it’s probably time to end it, especially the celebrity ones.

As said this is a load of outdated old shit now, same as the Queen's speech and SPOTY. Who honestly gives a fuck.

Re: New Years Honours
If you're a multi-millionaire and have no need to reside in the UK you'd be insane not to live in a tax haven. The weather is infinitely better for a start.

Did Greavsie get his for football or for services to the brewing industry?

I think you mean mixed/ multiracial driver rather than black driver, as Hamilton has a white British mother.

martinbritt_63 1:26 Thu Dec 31
Re: New Years Honours
That wasn't my point.

Jim Clark, Jackie Stewart, Nigel Mansell, Damon Hill, Jenson Button, David Coulthard etc. all chose to seek to live in "tax havens" - yet the black geezer is the only one who is criticised for that route - wow.

He's more than a "decent" driver - watch the Singapore, Monaco pole laps, and this year's victory in Turkey.

He would win in any era/any car.

It'll be fun seeing what he says to square this one if he accepts it, the stupid personality vacuum, playing current affairs cunt.

Decent driver though

He steers a car around a circuit, some of that car is controlled by IT whizzkids in the pit lane.

Slightly different from Jackie Stewart.

Re: New Years Honours
What has David Beckham ever won internationally ?

As for domicile - what about Sir Jackie Stewart - who spent a great deal of his life in Geneva ?

Give me a break - I don't personally agree with sportsmen receiving honours in their early years.

Hoy, Murray, Cook etc. but by that standard he's as deserving, probably more than most.
